Super Bowl LIV (aka 54) is this Sunday at 5:30pm on Fox between the San Francisco 49ers at Kansas City Chiefs. As of Monday at 9am, Chiefs are favored by 1.5 with the O/U at 53.5.
General info:
This is the first time these teams have played each other in the Super Bowl. The 49ers have a 5-1 record in the Super Bowl while the Chiefs are 1-1. Chiefs played in Super Bowl 1 and lost but won SB 4 and that was the last time the Chiefs have played in a Super Bowl.
Who you need to know:
- NFC: Chiefs (12-4 record)
- Patrick Mahomes – flashy QB who was drafted from Texas Tech in 2017. Won MVP in 2018. Previously injured his ankle this season and missed 2 games (week 8 & 9)
- Tyreek Hill – WR – although he was injured for a part of the season (week 6 return), he still caught 7 TDs for the Chiefs this season.
- RBs – Damien Williams & LeSean McCoy
- WR Sammy Watkins
- Travis Kelce – TE – he’s basically un-defendable (because he is huge so taking him down is hard) and a lot of their short TD passes go to his sure hands in the endzone
- AFC: 49ers (13-3)
- George Kittle – TE – leading receiver for the team (not normal)
- Jimmy Garoppolo (pronounced – Gar-op-ehllo) – QB
- Nick Bosa – DE – last year’s first round pick for the team and the highest recruiting DEs from Ohio St
- Raheem Mostert, Matt Breida and Tevin Coleman all rushed for over 500 yard this season
- Expect them to run the ball more than the Chiefs
- Richard Sherman – CB – Used to be in a Seahawks uniform already has a Super Bowl ring
- Katie Sowers – first female coach in the Super Bowl and first openly gay coach in the Super Bowl – she an offensive assistant for the 49ers
- She’s even featured in one of this year’s commercials
- Demi Lovato is singing the National Anthem
- JLo and Shakira are doing the half time show
- DJ Khaled will also be featured
- Head Ref: Bill Vinovich
- Normally I wouldn’t put this on here but this year it might be too soon for Saints fans

Commercials (spoiler alert!)
Companies paid ~$5MM-$5.6MM for 30 seconds of ad time during the game this year. On November 22nd, Fox announced that all of its ad space was sold.
Women have been the stars of many SB LIV commercials already:
Funny ones:
- Hyundai
- Snickers
- Doritos
- Discover
- TurboTax – This was one of my favorites so far
- Bud Light Seltzer
- Planters Mr. Peanut
And of course political ads – which I will not put on here out of principal
The show after the Super Bowl always gets a big boost, so who is this year’s lucky show?
The Masked Singer – season 3 premier
