Sorry followers! I have the flu and no one wants to listen to my voice right now.
Basketball-NBA:
- This week’s games:
- Monday had some impressive individual games. AEdwards scored 41 points in their wi over the 120-106. Rockets Jalen Green put up 42 points which led to their win over the Grizzlies by jst 2. The Raptors manage to upset the Warriors with a 3 point win.
- Murray then had 45 points for the Nuggets to beat the Mavs by 19. They were leading at halftime by 26.
- The Knicks managed to win in OT over the 76ers on Wed. That same day, the Pelicans got their 10th win of the season beating the Mavs who did not have a good week. That was their 3rd loss in a row.
-
- SGA was still in for the rematch of the Cavs/Thunder game on Thursday though. He had himself a 40 point game and this time OKC gets the big win by 20!
- The Mavs would get a huge upset of the thunder on Friday. SGA sat out with a wrist injury. The Hornets got their 10th win in a close one over the Bulls.
- On the weekend, the Hawks came back on the Celtics to win by 4 in OT! Jokic got his 18th triple-double of the season against the Magic. The Nugs would win by 13. No other game were too crazy after that.
Basketball – NCAA:
- NCAAM:
- No ranked games on Mon, Fri.
- #1 Auburn crushed #15 Mississippi St, outscoring them by 19 in the 1H to win by 22. A ranked matchup did not go #4 Alabama’s way after they lost to #21 Ole Miss. That is their first SEC win. #11 Texas A&M fell to #8 Kentucky as the wildcats won in both halves. Bball blue blood Arizona had a nice upset on #25 Baylor and remain undefeated in the Big 12.
- #2 Iowa State had a huge win over #9 Kansas by 17. Cyclones are undefeated still. That was until Saturday when west Virginia got the better of them. Fans rushed the court. #23 Georgia lost to Tennessee with a similar score to Kansas of 74-56. They would lose again to #1 Auburn. Not technically an upset on Sat but the Dawgs missed a basket with .3 seconds left to lose by 2. UNLV had a clutch basket at the end of the game to upset #22 Utah St by 3.
-
- Thursday was a day of upsets. There were only 3 ranked teams in action and all 3 lost! #18 Memphis was by the largest margin of 7 to Temple. The other two actually went into OT. Minnesota flipped the script in the 2H to beat #20 Michigan to win in OT by 3. #16 Gonzaga did not play well in OT, losing by 8 after keeping it close all game to Oregon St. Gonzaga would lose again to Santa Clara on Sat.
- Saturday continued to be crazy. #4 Alabama had a nice bounce back after their loss earlier in the week to beat #8 Kentucky. Vandy played upset to #6 Tennessee by 1. #7 Marquette escaped earlier in the week with a win in OT but they couldn’t outlast Xavier who beat them by 2 on Sat. #15 Mississippi ST put up 37 in both halves but would lose in OT to #21 Ole Miss. #14 UConn’s home win streak finally came to an end when Creighton beat them by 5.
- Wrapping up the week, #25 Baylor lost again to their rival TCU by 3. #12 Michigan St and #19 Illinois were tied at half before the Spartans were successful winning by 2.
Football – NFL:
- Saturday Divisionals: The Texans only managed to score FGs in the 1H. But a TD in the 3Q only had them behind by 1 point. The Chiefs put up 10 points in the 4Q and they sealed the win with a blocked FG in the final 2 min of the game. KC had to have made some fans very mad with a safety with 11 seconds to go – that caused them not to cover. The Commanders got the huge upset over the Lions. Washington scored 28 points in the 2Q alone. They would win this game easily 45-31.
- Sundays games were much better. The Eagles/Rams game was a snowy one. RB Saquon Barkley had two big runs for TDs (78 and 62) and QB Jalen Hurts had one for 44 yards for the Eagles. The Rams tied it up in the 3Q and with a safety later in the same Q. Then the Eagles scored 12 straight points to seal the win 28-22. The Ravens/Bills game was also icy. It was a close great game! The Ravens drew first blood. The Bills scored on the next drive. The Ravens then turned the ball over twice. They would have another in the 2H. The Bills were leading by 2 going into the 4Q. The Ravens would score a TD in the final 1:33 of the game and had to go for the 2 point conversion ot take the game to OT. They had the right play call with TE Mark Andrews open and in the endzone. But he dropped the ball. Bills advance 27-25.
Golf:
- Sepp Straka won the Amex by 2 over Justin Thomas. His final round was a 70 but it was still enough to take the win with 3 other rounds at 65 or better.
Olympic Sports:
- Some Paris Olympic medals are being replaced after they have started to deteriorate.
- Lindsay Vonn was on pace for a podium finish when she fell. But she is ok and fit to race again.
Tennis:
- The Australian Open:
- On the men’s side: #5 RUS Medvedev got beaten by USA Tien in a huge upset! Tien made it another round before losing to ITA Sonego. Sonego is the only unranked player still in the Quarterfinals. 4 different matches ended in retirement which is more than normal.
- On the women’s side: Jessica Pegula made it to the 3rd round before falling to unranked SLO Danilovic. ITA Paolini also fell in the 3rd round to UKR Svitolina. 3 Americans are still in the Quarterfinals (Coco Gauff, Madison Keys and Navarro).
