Football:
- The NFL draft is scheduled to take place on Thursday through Saturday. 1st round will be on TV on Thursday with 2 and 3 on Friday and Saturday will air the next 4 rounds. It will be held virtually with teams and players. The Bengals have 1st pick and it is rumored to be LSU QB Joe Burrow. My draft prediction: Get ready for a ton of bandwidth issues!
- Other names you might recognize going to the draft: Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts, Georgia QB Jake Fromm, ASU RB Eno Benjamin, Oregon Justin Herbert, Bama WR Henry Ruggs III, Arizona RB JJ Taylor, Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor and Oklahoma WR CeeDee Lamb,
- The Patriots have new uni’s! This is the first time in 20 years.
Golf:
- The PGA is considering the idea of the Ryder Cup being held in September with no fans. TBD on this for now.
- Golf to return in mid June!
- The PGA Tour will no longer be playing at the Greenbrier anymore due to lagging crowds. The original agreement was through 2026 but after federal prosecutors eyed the excessive spending, it has since canceled all touneys there.
Olympic Sports:
- Robert Wagner, a track agent, has now been hit with a 2 year ban after implicating Justin Gatlin in a doping scandal. Wagner is caught saying he could supply growth hormone and testosterone to an actor training for a film in exchange for $250k… Gatlin has not been found guilty and has already served time for doping allegations in the past. He is the 2004 gold medalist in the 100m but has since medaled in 2012 and 2016.
- COVID 19 has canceled 47% of all major sporting events originally scheduled in 2020. Revenues have also taken a huge hit in the sports industry with a projected total of $73.7Bn instead of the original $135.3Bn.
