  • Penn St coach Patrick Chambers has been suspended for 1 game for pushing one of his players during a timeout in Thursday’s loss to Michigan.

Basketball – NBA:

  • Timberwolves fired coach Thibodeau. Their record was 19-21.

Football – College:

  • Clemson vs Alabama part 4 will commence on Jan 7th for the National Championship.
    • Alabama won the last match up in last year’s semifinal but Clemson won the National Championship against them in 2017.
    • Tickets are still available for the game tonight (for quite a bit below face value) as this is rumored to be one of the most poorly attended National Championship games in some time.
  • Dana Holgorsen, now former coach of WV Mountaineers, has moved to Houston. He will coach the Cougars after taking a $20MM deal for 5 yrs.
  • Ohio St QB and Heisman candidate, Dwayne Haskins, declares for the NFL draft.

  • Wild card week provided some wild games:
    • The Cowboys barely beat the Seahawks 24-22.
    • The Eagles managed to hold off the Bears 16-15. The kicker missed a last second FG to win the game. To be fair, he made it the first time but the Eagles called a time out and he hit the crossbar. And the upright.
    • Chargers beat the Ravens 23-17
    • Colts destroyed the Texans 21-7. It was 21-0 at half.
