Football:

  • Tom Brady will no longer be a Patriot… It’s the end of an era. And he ended up a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. Cant wait to see how this unfolds! This kicks out Jameis Winston…
    • The Patriots signed a 1 year contract with Brian Hoyer – the first QB since the Brady bombshell. This is his 3rd stint with the Patriots where most recently he was beat out by Jarrett Stidham in the 2019 preseason for the #2 spot.

  • The Cardinals and the Texans did a blockbuster deal. The Cardinals traded RB David Johnson in return for WR DeAndre Hopkins. The Texans get a 2020 2nd round pick and a 2021 4th round pick while the Cardinals get a 2020 4th round pick. This trade was a shock to almost everyone!
  • The Rams released RB Todd Gurley and LB Clay Matthews.
  • XFL QB PJ Walker (from the Houston Roughnecks – the only undefeated team in the league when the league suspended play) will rejoin his old coach Matt Rhule for the Panthers this upcoming NFL season. Looks like the XFL did its job here.
    • 13 other XFL players are in discussions with the NFL
  • For the full Free Agency break down..

Golf:

  • The PGA Tour announced its second round of cancelled tournaments. Among these are: The RBC Heritage, the Zurich Classic, the Wells Fargo Championship and the AT&T Byron Nelson. This took us up to the 2nd major of the year, the PGA Championship, which was to be played in SF at the TPC Harding Park course. That major has now been postponed. That’s right people – no golf through May 17th. The next tournament on the schedule: Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, TX.
  • The PGA Tour commissioner, Jay Monahan, is voluntarily forgoing his salary along with other tour executives that are taking a 25% pay cut. All Tour employees are seeing a salary freeze at 2019 levels.

Olympic Sports:

  • The Tokyo Olympics are on and on schedule… for now. Although many countries, athletes and organizations have pushed for the Olympic committees to change the date. Australia and Canada have already said that they will not be sending athletes at this point – an empty threat in my opinion. The IOC says it gets 4 weeks to decide.
    • In my opinion: lets chill out for a second guys, this thing changes day by day. Who knows what the end of July will look like. Lets not rush to cancel or postpone something that some people have trained their lives for. Don’t let the fear win.

Soccer:

  • La Liga has now suspended play indefinitely following the worsening of COVID 19 in Spain.
