  • We are officially onto the Sweet 16 and no #1 or #2 teams have lost yet.
    • The last perfect bracket was broken when Purdue beat Villanova.
    • Duke was close in the game against UCF 77-76 with a last minute buzzer beater attempt. Check out the highlights here
    • Tennessee also had a scare going into OT with Iowa 83-77.
    • Tune in Thursday for the Sweet 16!
  • Alabama fired their head coach Avery Johnson after 4 seasons. He only made 1 NCAA tournament after the Crimson Tide was let out of this one.

Basketball – NBA:

  • Supreme Court ruled that they will not referee the case between Nike and Michael Jordan’s photographer Jacobus Rentmeester. Rentmeester sued Nike for copyright infringement after he took the iconic photo that led to the ‘jumpman’ logo. The Supremes staying out of the issue means the lower court’s decision in favor of Nike will stand.
  • The Warriors have 50+ games every season for the last 6 years.

Football – College:

  • Georgia Tech lost one of their own on Saturday, DL Brandon Adams died at the age of 21 after he collapsed near campus.
  • Not a good weekend for college football players, William & Mary’s RB Nate Evans was killed in a shooting on Thursday. He passed away at the scene and was 19 years old.

Football – NFL:

  • Rob ‘Gronk’ Gronkowski announced he is retiring from the NFL yesterday on Instagram, so naturally social media went into a frenzy. He is only 29 but has been playing in the NFL for 9 years. Gronk went to the University of Arizona and went on to play for the Patriots for his entire NFL career. He was a TE #87 and a 3x Super Bowl Champion. Way to end on a high note.  Be ready for your bf to worry about who his TE pick for fantasy football will be next year.

Golf:

  • Paul Casey successfully defended his title at the Valspar Championship this weekend winning by 1 stroke with a score of 8 under par.
  • Former President George W. Bush scored a hole-on-one on the par-3 12th hole at Trinity Forest on Wednesday. His next goal: Live to 100 so he can shoot his age.
  • The WGC – Dell Match Play is being played this weekend in Austin, TX. Look for a post on Wednesday on how this work because its not just another tournament…
