Basketball – NBA:

  • Playoff Update:
    • The Curry brothers have been in a show down during the West conference finals and right now Steph is getting the upper hand with a 3-0 lead in the series. Mom and dad had to flip a coin to see who wears what jersey.
    • bro
      • The Bucks are up 2-1 in their series due to a Sunday night win in 2OT.
  • Ryan Saunders will become the head coach of the Timberwolves for a multiyear deal. Saunders was the interim coach this past season.
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo will fund the construction of an indoor basketball court just outside of Athens.

Football – NFL:

  • Redskins LB Reuben Foster left the field with a left leg injury during the first team activity. TBD on what his MRI says.
  • Colts signed QB Chad Kelly today. He was released from the Broncos after he was arrested for trespassing for entering a couple’s home in October. This was not Kelly’s first time in trouble. Kelly was kicked off Clemson’s football team for arguing with coaches during the Spring game and had been arrested for a bar fight in 2014.
  • Speaking of arrests, Ezekiel Elliott was arguing his gf when security had to get involved after Elliott shoved a man until he hit a gate. He was not arrested but he was briefly detained.

Football – NCAA:

  • More than 50 male players were sexually abused by a team physician, Dr. Richard Strauss. Struass killed himself in 2005. A new report came out on Friday that says Strauss sexually abused at least 177 students. This will not be the last we hear of this.
  • Florida St QB Deondre Francois is transferring to FAU as a walk-on. He can still play for 2 years. Francois was let go form the FSU team after his gf accused him of abusing her.
  • Clemson got their 3rd 5-star recruit for his class with DE Myles Murphy.

Golf:

  • Brooks Koepka won the PGA Championship this weekend at Bethpage Black by 2 strokes with a score of –8. Koepka went into the final round with a 7 shot lead and struggled through the day carding a 4 over round but it was enough to win over buddy, Dustin Johnson who shot -1 on Sunday. This win makes it the 4th major victory of his last 8 starts. He is the only person in golf history to successfully defend both the PGA Championship (2018 & 2019) and the US Open (2017 & 2018). Koepka takes over the #1 spot in the world with that win. Dustin Johnson drops to 2nd.
    • Next major will also have Brooks as defending champion as the golfers head to the US Open at Pebble Beach in June.

Horse Racing:

  • The Preakness ran this weekend and War of Will took the crown. This officially ends the Triple Crown hopes for this year. Country House (who won the Kentucky Derby) did not run in the Preakness. However the crowd favorite had to be Bodexpress, who after bucking his jockey, still ran the whole race. Who needs a jockey?

Olympic Sports:

  • Omar McLeod won for the 4th straight time at the Diamond League at the 110m hurdles but this one was different. After finishing, McLeod cried as his aunt had died the day before.
  • Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy expressed interest in competing in the Olympics before the PGA Championship.
  • Natasha Hastings is 5 ½ months pregnant and still training for Tokyo 2020 in the 400m (and potentially the 4x400m relay).
